To maintain a clean and engaging experience for all users, we require that advertisement images contain less than 20% text coverage.

Advertising on Island Index covers any paid promotion that surfaces your business to a broader or targeted audience. This includes:
- Feed Boosts - promoted posts that appear in users' feeds alongside organic content.
- Premium Banners - reserved spots on the explore page and key sections of the site.
- Sponsored Business Pages - increased visibility for your business profile.
- Highlighted Listings - pinned or featured entries in category and island directories.
4 Getting Started
- Create or open your business page and make sure your profile is complete (logo, description, contact details, opening hours).
- Choose a promotion type (feed boost, banner, sponsored page or highlighted listing) that fits your goal.
- Set your media and text. Follow the visual standards below and keep your headline clear and honest.
- Select your audience by category or island so your promotion reaches the right people.
- Choose a duration and budget, then submit for review. Most ads go live within 24 hours.
5 Visual & Text Standards
Well-designed promotions perform better and keep the community experience clean. Please follow these standards:
- Keep text below 20% of the image area. Put detailed information in your caption or post body.
- Use high-resolution, original images that reflect your actual products or services.
- Write a clear, honest headline that matches what your customer will actually receive.
- Avoid loud, flashing, or distorted effects that could be distracting or trigger photosensitivity.
- Do not imply partnership or endorsement by Island Index unless you have written approval.
6 Audience & Targeting
You can tailor who sees your promotion:
- By category - reach users interested in a specific business category.
- By island - focus delivery on a specific atoll or island.
- All users - max exposure across the whole platform.
Delivery is estimated and cannot be guaranteed to every match; impressions scale with your budget and duration.
7 Pricing & Billing
- You are charged at the rates shown when you place your promotion.
- You can choose a promotion duration (e.g. days or weeks) before confirming.
- You will not be charged if your promotion is rejected before it starts.
- Duplicates of the same promotion (same media and text) are not allowed while one is already live or pending.
- All sales are final once a promotion has gone live. No refunds for live promotions.
8 Review & Moderation
- Every promotion is reviewed before going live.
- Most reviews complete within 24 hours. We will notify you of the outcome.
- If your ad is rejected, the reason will be shared with you so you can fix and resubmit.
- We may pause or remove any live promotion that violates these guidelines, with or without a refund depending on the case.
- We may restrict advertising for accounts with repeated violations.
9 Performance & Analytics
- Track impressions, clicks, and engagement from your ad dashboard.
- Use the insights to refine your media, headline, and audience for better results.
- Pro tip: clear, benefit-led headlines and authentic images usually outperform heavily-designed graphics.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does my ad run?
You choose the duration when you place your promotion. You can set it to run for a set number of days or weeks, up to the available maximum shown in the form.
Can I edit or cancel a promotion once it's live?
Once a promotion is live it cannot be edited or cancelled for a refund. Please double-check your media, text, audience, and duration before submitting.
Why was my ad rejected?
Common reasons are excess text, low-resolution or irrelevant images, prohibited content, or misleading claims. The rejection reason is shared with you so you can correct it and resubmit.
Where can I see my ad's results?
Open your business page and go to the Ads tab. There you can view impressions, clicks, and engagement for each promotion.
